【Departs from Yonago】 Experience a modern tatara furnace and Japanese farm life on a three-day tour with farmhouse lodging

Highlights

・Sightsee in a local area fostered by tatara-furnace iron- and steelmaking culture. ・Experience leisurely travel only possible with traditional farmhouse lodging, staying over and meeting locals in a 200-year-old, wooden, thatched-roof farmhouse. ・Make your own letter opener knife at a tatara-furnace blacksmith's workshop on the third day and take it home as a memento of your experience. ★ Tatara furnace steelmaking has undergone continual development from ancient times up to the modern day. The bellows (fuigo) used to send air into the furnace are also called tatara, which is where the ""tatara furnace"" name originates. In tatara furnace steelmaking, iron sand, iron ore and other such materials are reduced at relatively low temperatures inside a charcoal-fueled clay furnace to produce high-purity steel. Until the early part of Japan's modern history, domestic steel was almost all produced in this fashion. ★ [Baby/Child Tour Prices] Children ages 0–5 cannot participate in this tour. [Items Included in Tour Price] Admission and activity fees for facilities/sites included in the tour plan, English-speaking interpreter–guide (from time of initial gathering on first day to end of tour on third day, excluding second-day farmhouse experience), lunch costs, lodging costs for two nights (including two breakfasts and two dinners) [Note regarding the day two farmhouse experience] Guests can enjoy spending time in a traditional Japanese farmhouse throughout the entire second day. Please wear clothes that you don't mind getting dirty and are easy to move around in. [Notes and precautions] * Because this is not a group tour, no tour manager will accompany guests. However, an English-speaking interpreter–guide will accompany the tour. Your final tour schedule, which is required for the tour, will be sent prior to the scheduled departure date. Customers are responsible for reaching the tour starting point on their own. Costs for transport to and from the tour start/end point are not included in tour costs. ・For tours departing on Saturday, the second and third day schedules will be swapped. ・Tour facilities/sites may be closed suddenly without prior notice in response to local conditions and needs. If this occurs, we will attempt to provide an alternate facility/site, but even if no alternate is provided tour costs will not be refunded, discounted, etc. ・Lodging facility rooms for the tour are reserved with 2 guests per room. If you wish to request 4 guests in a single room, please inform us when making your reservation. However, be aware that some lodging facilities are unable to provide rooms accommodating 4 guests.
