Autumn Leaves in Ibaraki Prefecture! Fukuroda Falls and Hananuki Valley ('Autumn Leaves Tunnel') / From Ueno

Visit 3 famous autumn leaves spots in Ibaraki Prefecture Fukuroda Falls Fukuroda Falls is one of the three greatest waterfalls in Japan with a drop of 120 meters and a width of 73 meters. The waterfall cascades down over four layers of rock. For this reason, Fukuroda Falls has the nickname of "Yodo-no-Taki". ("Yo" is four and "Taki" is waterfall in Japanese.) In autumn, the contrast between the rock cliff-face and the surrounding autumn leaves is wonderful. Tsukimachi Falls Tsukimachi Falls is also called "Urami-no-Taki" which means 'the waterfall that can be seen from behind' without getting wet. It is a small but beautiful waterfall. Hananuki Valley Hananuki Valley bursts into reds and yellows in autumn. The view of the autumn leaves can be enjoyed from the walking trail and the Shiomi Falls Suspension Bridge, where the leaves form a beautiful tunnel-like effect. On the bridge, you can enjoy viewing Shiomi Falls below you and the stream of the Hananuki river. ■A melonpan snack from Tomobe Service Area on the highway and "Makunouchi Bento" lunch box (without tea) by Mannenya, a long-established bento shop in Ibaraki, is included.
