Himeji Castle A World Heritage Site also known as "Shirasagi-jo" meaning "White Heron Castle." Registered as UNESCO World Culture Heritage and selected as one of Japan's Top 100 Castles. 5. Takeda Castle Ruins The castle ruins, situated on the mountaintop at an elevation of 350 meters. Fog sometimes covers the castle ruins in the early morning when the sky is clear, and makes a fantastic view of the fog and the ruins that attracts many visitors. For this reason this place is also known as "Machu Picchu of Japan" and "The Castle in the Sky". ※As Takeda Castle is inaccessible by an ordinary coach, you will have to change to a microbus. After getting off a microbus, you will have to walk uphill about 15 min one way to the entrance of Takeda Castle. Please make sure to wear comfortable shoes. If you book a tour within 44 days to the departure, there is a possibility that we will not be able to reserve a space in an oversized baggage area. Please consider reducing your luggage. Language Support
