These temples were all founded by the priest Enrin (Jikaku Daishi) and were visited by Matsuo Basho, a famous haiku poet who wrote his book "Oku no Hosomichi (Narrow Road to the Interior)". ①Matsushima・Zuiganji Temple・・・Visit Hondo (main hall) that was reopened to the public in 2016. ②Yamadera・Risshaku-ji Temple・・・Over 1,100 year-old temple associated with Matsuo Basho. ③・④Hiraizumi・Chuson-ji Temple & Motsuji Temple・・・View Buddhist temple architectures and garden registered as the World Heritage. [Accommodation] Hotel: Takamiya Rurikura Resort or Hotel Lucent Takamiya. Stay at "Zao Onsen", a representative hot spring resort in Yamagata. Feel relaxed at milky-white hot spring. [Important] *Some hotels are not equipped with an elevator or an open-air bath. *This tour is operated with a mixture of Japanese and foreign guests. However a staff member will give you the basic information, such as meeting place and time at each stop in English or Chinese, although they won't give you detailed information on the places visited. *A Japanese-speaking guide is included. Although the tour conductor can speak English or Chinese, they are not an interpreter for the guide. There will be many explanations during the temple's visits. *4 Temples Pilgrimage requires a lot of walking with many stairs involved, so please join with comfortable shoes. *Wearing clothes and shoes that let you move easily and comfortably is strongly recommended. *Depending on the road conditions on the day, the order of the itinerary may change. *We will not be responsible for any delays, shortenings or omissions made to the itinerary due to circumstances beyond our control (traffic, weather etc.) *A decision on whether to cancel the tour will be decided by 3pm Japan Standard Time one day before the tour date. We will inform you by e-mail. *The tour end point may be different from the meeting point.
