Enjoy beautiful autumn foliage in the Tohoku (northeast) region of Japan using three different modes of transport! 1. [From the sea] Lake Towada: enjoy a cruise first thing in the morning. The viewing period is from mid to late October. 2. [From the air] Hakkoda: take to the skies on the Hakkoda Ropeway and view autumn foliage from the top of a mountain! The viewing period is from early to mid October. 3. [From the ground] Gono Line: a scenic train ride from which you can also see the Sea of Japan. Accommodation is located in two popular locations for autumn foliage Night 1- Tazawako Kogen Onsen Overnight at a hotel overlooking Lake Tazawa, the deepest lake in Japan. The hot spring water is famous around the area. Night 2- Towada Kohan Onsen Stay on the shores of Lake Towada where you can enjoy the hot springs and the autumn foliage. Other famous autumn foliage spots include visiting the mountainous region of Hachimantai, Lake Juniko (Twelve Lakes) and the Blue Pond and the gorgeous Oirase Stream (from the bus) [Autumn foliage viewing periods] Lake Towada: mid to late October Oirase Stream: mid to late October Hakkoda: Late September to mid October Hachimantai: Late September to mid October Shirakami-Sanchi: mid to late October Lake Tazawa: mid October *This course is planned according to the best viewing period in previous years, but this does not guarantee that this year will be the same and could be slightly later or earlier. [Attention] *The Gono Line is a local train and all seats are non-reserved so you may not be able to sit down. The section of the journey on the train is subject to change. Parts of the journey will be inland where you cannot view the sea (approx. 30 min ride) *At the top of Hachimantai: if the best viewing conditions for the autumn foliage has passed (usually late Sep~mid Oct), we may visit a different location at a lower elevation. In addition, from the beginning of November, the “Aspite Line” sightseeing road to the top will be closed due to frozen roads. In that case, the stroll at the summit will be omitted from the schedule. *For the accommodation on Day 2, rooms will be divided by 2~3 people (groups of 4+ people will be separated into two or more rooms.) In the case of 3 persons, an extra bed/sofa bed will be provided in the twin room. *Although this tour includes a bus guide, they only speak Japanese. The tour conductor or language support staff will not act as an interpreter for the bus guide. *The return Shinkansen journey may be by Hayate or Hayabusa *Please wear comfortable clothing and walking shoes. *The order of the itinerary is subject to change. *This tour is operated with a mix of Japanese and foreign passengers. *For the smooth operation of the group tour, we are responsible for allocating the seating for the transportation (bus, trains etc.) used during the tour and at facilities where seats are designated. *We will not be responsible for any delays, shortenings or omissions made to the itinerary due to circumstances beyond our control (traffic, weather etc.) *A decision on whether to cancel the tour will be decided by 3pm Japan Standard Time one day before the tour date. We will inform you by e-mail. *The tour end point may be different from the meeting point. Ask the tour conductor on the day. *The amended Act on the Protection of Personal Information came into effect on 30 May 2017. Customer information (name, age, gender etc.) may be forwarded to the hotels or necessary entities for the purpose of making tour arrangements. Language Support

A tour conductor or staff of your preferred language will accompany the tour from the designated meeting place (at a designated airport in case of a tour with airplanes) and provides the participant with basic information necessary for the tour (such as meeting place and time at each stop etc) in your preferred language.
