Fukkouwari (post-earthquake discounts) is a campaign to help Hokkaido's tourism industry bounce back quickly following the devastating 2018 Hokkaido Eastern Iburi earthquake. The “We are GENKI Hokkaido/ Welcome! HOKKAIDO, JAPAN Campaign” is designed to reassure Japanese and overseas visitors that the locals are recovering well and that the region is open for business. To help with the process, the national and local governments are subsidizing local businesses and services so they can offer tourists incentives to come and visit. Drift ice boat cruise *There is no guarantee that you will be able to see the drift ice on the day (strong currents, high winds etc.) *Please note that the operation of the icebreaker ships is not dependent on the presence or absence of drift ice. *The cruise will be cancelled in adverse weather/rough sea conditions. In that case, the group boarding fare (Garinko II: JPY2,700 for adults/JPY1350 for children; Aurora: JPY2,970 for adults/JPY1,490 for children) will be returned to you on the day.
